Recently, I spent a weekend at the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Northern Kentucky. My visit was incredibly interesting and faith affirming. How essential it is that we truly believe what the Bible has to say about creation, the ark and God’s plan for mankind. Modern science, interwoven into our education and entertainment sources, tells us such a different story. A story that says there is no need of a god, and everything can be explained by natural process. What a tragic lie from Satan! Creation is such a perfect miracle and could not have come about any other way except God.
As a Christian mom, discerning the difference between Biblical truth and the world’s interpretation of natural process is critical. Your beliefs about your origin and the reliability of God’s Word form the basis of your world view. That world view is what you will teach your children. It will color all your stories and view points. It influences what you allow in your home. As a godly mom, you have to read scripture and pray that God will ground your beliefs in Him. Pray that you will be a true source of information to your children.
The Truth of Your Origin
Your belief about origin is important. Are you a special creation of God or a more highly evolved animal? In Psalms 139:14, we read, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” The creation story shows your children their true value in the eyes of God. You want them to believe that their existence was brought about purposefully by a loving God. He reverently created their bodies and His plans for their life. God sees you and your children as wonderful.
When you deny or dilute the creation story, you take away from a core truth about God’s power and authority as our creator. The interpretations of modern science, such as an earth that is millions of years old, muddy the simple truth of Genesis. Teaching these half-truths to your children is to teach them that God cannot be relied on to tell us how and why He made us. Satan’s version of the story says we not special, we have no purpose, and we are not accountable to a creator. Do not let the lies of Satan take away from your incredibly special relationship with God
The Truth of the Bible
The world’s treatment of Noah’s story is a vivid stereotype of how Satan takes a Biblical narrative and dilutes it. Noah’s ark is a common theme for toys, baby room designs and colorful story books. They depict Noah’s journey taking place on an impossibly small ark with a handful of animals. We buy these products to teach our children about Noah’s story. We do not realize that we are portraying a false narrative that sets up a basis for unbelief. By Biblical accounts, the ark was huge and full of thousands of animals. To serve its purpose, the ark would have been an architectural masterpiece. This is the story we want to tell our children so they can see God’s plan of salvation for Noah and his family as brilliant and perfect and believable.
The Bible testifies of itself that Scripture is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16), true and eternal (Psalms 119:160), flawless (Proverbs 30:5), alive and active (Hebrews 4:12) and your joy and heart’s delight (Jeremiah 15:16). How wonderful that God would give us a book full of His thoughts and examples of His interactions with mankind. The Scripture cannot fulfill God’s purpose in your life if you do not really believe it.
Have Faith
It is so easy to allow doubts about the Bible’s incredible narratives to creep into our beliefs. We let our mind settle on a middle ground of skepticism. We say it is all a mystery that we will understand when we get to heaven. That was never God’s intention. When God weaves these stories into the Bible, He is telling us of His purpose and plan for mankind. We are called to have faith and believe. After all, isn’t faith believing what we do not see or understand (Hebrews 11:1). Ask the Lord to open your heart and help you to believe.
I would also recommend doing some research with your children. I highly recommend the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter. They have wonderful resources for you and the children that are available online on the U-Tube Creation Museum channel. God’s truth will stand up to your scrutiny. It will affirm your faith and theirs to hear scientists with a Biblical world view. Their teaching supports the truth that God lovingly created us, and we can depend on His Word.
